Now that the dust has begun to settle from 2 weeks ago, on Balbirnie's retention once again of The Scottish Wedding Hotel of the Year award, we're issuing a further press release this morning, in relation to The Fellowship, the highest individual award in the country, which was announced at the end of the awards night.

The photo below was taken onstage, being presented with the award by Lord and Lady Macdonald of Skye, snap very kindly taken on the night and sent to us by the very lovely Renata Fernandes, editor of Five Star magazine.

Over the last two weeks I've thought a lot about that very moment onstage, and particularly this photo. As you can see Dear Readers, my expression certainly tells a story! All there in one almighty blur. Growing up with hotelkeeping, my first most humble career job as a trainee in the butchery department of London's Savoy Hotel, all the great places I've worked at, the people I have met, and of course - now into my 22nd year in the hot seat at Balbirnie, and the many great characters and dedicated hoteliers we've seen working here through the years, my gratitude as always to the entire brigade. The honour of our career profession. And where would I even begin in terms of contemplating the occasions we have seen at Balbirnie? And, what has gone into creating this accumulating history at Balbirnie? And more than anything else, the photo below conveys to me how very humbled and proud I felt to get up onstage to receive this award in front of 9 of my fellow work colleagues, my wife Gaynor and sister Rosemary, in addition to Scotland's top 500 hoteliers. My goodness, a once in a lifetime moment.

Thank you so much to all customers over the years.

All the best, Nicholas / MD Balbirnie x

"Nicholas, what a stunning achievement for you personally and for your whole team at Balbirnie. I am proud of you all for bringing such recognition to my constituency, and more particularly, my home town of Markinch. A fantastic achievement."
