dining at balbirnie
A feature of visiting Balbirnie is undoubtedly the dining experience. Balbirnie’s kitchens have an emphasis on creating classic dishes which use seasonal produce, using at every opportunity the wonderful natural larder that Scotland provides.
We have a choice of two restaurants for our guests, namely our elegant Orangery restaurant and our more casual Balbirnie Bistro.
In The Orangery
- Just a little note to say that we welcome children to The Orangery but as the restaurant can be busy, would also respectfully ask to alleviate any safety concerns that if children are dining in The Orangery they must remain at the table at all times.
- During a busy service we can have up 500+ dishes being presented, many of these in very hot copper pans etc etc, therefore to alleviate any safety concerns we would respectfully ask that if children are dining in The Orangery they must remain at the table at all times.
Orangery/ The Tasting Room
- The Tasting Room works in effect like an additional dining table, for up to 6 covers. We offer our usual Orangery lunch and dinner menus in The Tasting Room. If interested in reserving then please email reservations@balbirnie.co.uk
In The Balbirnie Bistro
- We offer various vegetarian options.
- Children of all ages are welcome, and in this area we are delighted to offer a children’s menu with very traditional child favourites, in The Bistro we do have high chairs and baby food heating facilities, as well as nearby changing facilities.
- Within the hotel we also have a number of Private Dining rooms available for hire.
Other Dining Facilities
- Picnics - should you wish to explore the surrounding countryside, we are delighted to provide a range of picnic hampers to take with you.
- Afternoon Tea - Traditional cream tea is available at Balbirnie between 3-5pm daily, priced at £6 per person. Please note that for non-residents, afternoon tea must be reserved in advance of your visit.
- Room service - is available to hotel residents 24 hours a day
